Stressed Out? Tasks Mindset vs Schedule Mindset

It was draining me of my life, and I don't feel I'm exaggerating when I say that.

But one day I realized I had been all wrong about how to get things done.

Suddenly, I went from feeling stressed out and anxious about all the things I have to do...to feeling much more in control of my time and my life.

What started all of this?

A simple mindset change.

The "Stressed Out" Tasks Mindset

Let's talk about tasks mindset.

Tasks mindset is when you think about all the things you do. And then you think about how on Earth you're going to get all of that done.

To-do lists can help, but they don't solve the problem.

One task turns into five, which soon turns into twenty.

Piles and piles of tasks are everywhere, just waiting to be done.

And what does that lead to?

If you're like me, it doesn't lead to good feelings. It leads to massive overwhelm and frustration.

When I have piles of tasks to sort through, my mental health suffers big time. It's an absolutely awful, crushing feeling.

So what's the answer?

It's adopting a schedule mindset.

The "No Longer Stressed Out" Schedule Mindset

If tasks mindset is wading through piles of tasks, schedule mindset is sorting through those tasks and putting them in neat and tidy piles right next to each other.

Schedule mindset is time-blocking.

It's taking time to plan out your calendar. It's having a weekly time slot for paying bills and filing papers. It's having bi or tri-weekly time slots for things like "calls," and "writing" and even "self-care.

Schedule mindset is a way out of the darkness.

Because in order to define the categories of your life, you need to work through what's important to you in the first place.

But believe me, this is well worth the time it takes.

Documenting where your time is going and coming up with a simple plan to schedule your time is not a waste of time. It's a way to get your time back.

Discipline = Freedom

I thought this was a corny saying that uptight people say, but now I understand it. I fully embrace it.

I guarantee you will start to see benefits even with the smallest actions taken while you're in a schedule mindset.
